Submission Guidelines
We accept any genre of work as long as any mainstream publisher has not previously published it. The only thing that we ask is that work submitted to An Authors Way is tasteful. By that we mean not uploading anything that is solely intended to cause distress, hate or offence to anyone.
It is okay to write about racism, erotic fiction, religion or anything else that may be considered controversial, however you must remember that it needs to be written in a way that is tasteful and would be publishable.
Each post submitted to An Authors way is briefly reviewed to make sure it is a) not spam and b) to ensure it fits with the taste of the site. Anything that falls outside the boundaries of taste will not be accepted. Therefore if you are considering submitting a completely vile version of Fifty Shades Of Grey, or something that would incite hatred, then my advice is don’t bother; it will never be viewed on this site.
To submit your work to us, you are required to register and select a User Level. Once you have registered and logged in, you will be able to submit your work immediately.
As well as submitting your work, we also need a very brief synopsis, like the blurb you see on the back of books. Try and limit this to just 100 words to give our readers a taster of what the book is about.
Once you are ready to submit, select the ‘Submit A Story’ Page. Then just upload your work using the following format:
- Under ‘Post Title,’ add the name of your story and the author name [Your book title] – By [Author Name]
- Enter the answer to the simple security question. This is to ensure a human is entering the details and not a computer.
- Select the category most appropriate to your genre
- Insert the synopsis at the very top of the page. Place title of the book beneath, then copy and paste up to the first three chapters of your book, or first 1,000 words of a short story into the ‘content’ section
- Click Submit Post.
- Your work will be reviewed and uploaded within 24 hours.
