Q) Other sites that offer similar services are more expensive? How can you offer your services for considerably less?
A) An Authors Way does not employ anyone to undertake any proofreading or formatting for Kindle. Since we are saving money by not having large overheads, we can afford to pass that saving on and keep prices low
Q) Do you provide an editing service?
A) Unfortunately not. We do not edit your novel in any way because to edit and then proofread it would take a considerable amount of time, with the manuscript having to go back and forth between editor and author to approve changes. We feel this would be too time consuming for the author so we just stick to proofreading and Kindle Formatting. For now.
Q) If I want my novel proofreading or formatting for Kindle, can I just email you rather than signing up?
A) You will need to sign up. We need to keep a track of our invoices and don’t want to end up sending reminders to those that have already paid. We have an invoice system in place that tracks everything for us so we make sure we get it right every time.
Q) The genre I like to write for doesn’t appear in your list. Can I still submit?
A) Absolutely. Email us on admin@anauthorsway.com and we’ll simply add the genre to the list
Q) Will you represent me with a Publishing House?
A) If your work is getting some excellent reviews, we will be delighted to contact publishers on your behalf, but we will only do so if you ask us to. We won’t just take it upon ourselves to contact publishers
Q) Will you contact agents on my behalf?
A) We will, in time send emails to agents inviting them to view the work on the site. Whether they do or not is up to them. However if you have submitted work to us, tell them in your letter, especially if you are getting rave reviews
Q) How long does it take for you to display my Write and review work?
A) We aim to have your work live on the site within 24 hours of submission or as close to it as possible.
Q) How long does it take for Proofreading to be completed?
A) To have your manuscript properly proofread will take between 4 and 6 weeks. It can be done quicker, but the quality probably won’t be as good and we want you to have value for money.
Q) How long does it take for Proofreading and Kindle Formatting to be completed?
A) Again it will be between 4 and 6 weeks for it to be done properly. This is you work; we respect it and we want it to succeed. That won’t happen if we don’t play our part effectively.
Q) Will you upload my book to Kindle on my behalf?
A) Simple answer is no. In my honest opinion, I believe such a practice would be open to fraud. An account would have to be set up in our name and all payments would come to us. We would see all reports and you wouldn’t see a thing. How would you know if what you were paid is the correct amount? aThe answer is you don’t so it would be much better for you to have control over that side of things. However we will help you promote you book.
Q) I noticed errors in the work I have uploaded. Can I amend it?
A) We are happy for you to re-submit the correct work to the site free of charge in the first instance. However, subsequent uploads of the same work will become chargeable at £5* each time. But make sure that you are happy with the work you are uploading – you don’t get two chances to make a first impression.
